Açaí Bowls

These have been on repeat the last couple of weeks since visiting my hubby in Bahrain (where it’s still a whopping 105 F — YIKES!)

The original one I had was a base of banana, pitaya, and peanut butter. It was HEAVENLY! However, my favorite grocery was sold out of frozen pitaya, so I opted for an OG ACAI BOWL! After seeing them sold for anywhere from $10-15 a bowl, I had to give it a try at home!

Ingredients:

  • Acai pack - I used the Sambazon

  • 1 cup frozen banana or 1 cup frozen mango

  • 2/3 cup almond milk (you can absolutely use milk or any other milk alternative!)

  • 1 scoop protein powder of your choice

  • Toppings of choice: ENDLESS!!! I chose pepitas, berries, granola, and bananas

These bowls are packed with flavor and nutrition! I have been saving them for after my workouts for a morning snack.

For now I am loving the ability to add a variety of toppings to boost my intake of omega-3, calcium, and magnesium (it’s 2nd trimester, which means the little one is using my own calcium stores to build their bones!!! and growing baby is using their brain to signal breathing and sucking!). If using a milk alternative ensure it is fortified with calcium and vitamin D!

Additionally you can layer the açaí with yogurt and berries to change up the texture a bit! I’m all about versatility and flavor, so have fun with your toppings and let me know what your favorite mix ins are.

LIVE. NOURISH. GROW.
